Security and Energy Monitoring Systems

AlertMe have released a range of easy self install, home security alarm and energy monitoring systems.

AlertMe components fulfil the usual window, door, motion and smoke monitoring functions using self install, wireless sensors linked to a central hub. Installation does not require any drilling as the sensors are simply placed around the home. The hub is connected to the householder’s broadband connection. In the event of an emergency the system immediately sends data via the Internet connection to AlertMe who in turn alert the home owner via mobile phone. If the Internet connection is down then a GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) takes over sending information to 2G cellular phones.

AlertMe have now added energy monitoring to their range of components. The new technology, Smart Plugs, plugs into any electrical socket and uses the same hub as their security system. The Smart Plugs can then monitor and control any device connected through it. Users can see both live and historical energy use by the devices.

Smart Plugs are definitely smart. Then can automatically turn on and off lights and other devices, can alert users when an appliance fails, can turn of equipment when the owner leaves the house and turn on such things as kettles when they come back in.

AlertMe security kits start from 49 pounds sterling
